my first post so sorry if in the wrong place..ive been lurking for a while and been reading everything on the net about DIY 3d backgrounds...just bought new 75g and have tons of work to do...stand will be built in knee wall ..i will make a photo time lapse ..tons of questions..

im gonna list my plan for you kind people to pick apart ..id rather hear it now then AFTER i spend time and money
Lake Tanganyika comps/shellys/julies/small school cyps

75g tank FX5 filter w/ spray bar 300w inline heater
i plan to hard wire everything to a master control panel under tank, wired directly to GFI circuit breaker in panel box in basement..yes its on first floor of house which i have already reinforced the floor with header beam and pole jacks(was gonna be a 120g) i will also be adding a hidden 2in pvc drain line that will plumb to a slop sink in basement for water changes(draining)..

1st question...will a drinking water purifying filter remove enough chlorine from tap water to be safe to go straight in tank..(want to add direct fill be a shame to eliminate buckets on drain and have to use to fill)

2nd question...anyone have 1st hand experience with using expanded polystyrene in tanks...i work in aviation industry and have tons of molding/casting experience but dont know if chemicals are toxic in water..i have my doubts about the foam with concrete slurry over the top holding up over time..thin layer of concrete seems like it would crack and de-laminate from foam over time ..i have several ideas on making background...im actually going to splash a fiberglass mold off a large boulder and either pour concrete or EPS for background..

anyways that post is all over the place sorry...mind racing
