So ive had a 110 tall african mix setup for about 2 years. I llike it but its kinda boring but the kids love it, so im stuck with it, Im going to narrow it down to just my peacocks, keep the lab and bumblee bee. Im gettin rid of the rest. My question what is the best lighting to really bring out the colors. And i have crushed coral as the sub. Is there something different i can use or add with that to try and get there color to pop. If my kids didnt like them id empty the tank and use it for something else, but they like all the color, im just looking for a way to get them more color basicly.

With tall tanks, it get a little tricky. In my old 75, I had Coralife T12 20K and 50/50 bulbs in a dual bulb fixture. I loved the way it made everything look. It might work in your 110 as well. The 75 is the same footprint, just 9 inches shorter.

What kind of fixture do you have? I have switched to T5 fixtures with 10K and 50/50 bulbs. If you like a more blue tint, try actinic and 10K bulbs.

Do you have any pics?

Note - Bumblebees are mean. Are your Peacocks male? Remove the Bumblebee and I bet your Peacocks will look better.

Pics are in the works. My girls camera wont download them for some reason so im try some new ones. Right now i just have a 48" strip light from lowes, with 2 10 k lights but one is clear and the other is a blue tint. Not sure what type. And the bumble my daughter picked out and atm i have nowhere to put him unless i use him as a feeder for my gars. Dont think she'll go for that. But he isnt to aggresive. And no they are not all males. 2 blue peacock f with a male, 1 albino(not usre if its m or f), the yellow lab and the bumblebee, with a red peacock m and f

i would not mix mbuna and peacocks, especially crabro bumblebee. as it grows it becomes a vicious fish.

apart from dietary differences, peacocks and mbuna are different temperaments

Mbuna and Peacocks make poor tankmates primarily because Mbuna have a considerably more aggressive temperament (some would even say obnoxious). Their aggressiveness and hyperactivity have a tendency to stress the Peacocks

there is more information in that article about why it is not a great idea to mix the two. granted, it can be done, and you find people who have done it successfully, but i just wouldn't do it and i think you will have happier fish.

Very good advice. Might want to consider this before your lighting.

I too have tall tanks and have lots of success with double t5 fixtures combining a 10k and an actinic, but I don't have live plants in that tank. Plants would NOT like this combo so it's something to consider if you do. Otherwise, that combo is the best for fishes colors with your tank depth, and I've tried them all
