This was my old one;

this is what I did today; opinion? I already took out a structure and a plant
that I put in earlier, maybe I should take out something else...
I want to get different rock, but this is what came with it, so I'm dealing with it for now. I want more of an earthy tone to my tank, not something that is SOO freaking colorful. lol

switch to more natural setting...change the gravel. the one plant in the middle is out of place and what are the purpose of the shelf things in each corner? look like little fish patios. and desperately needs a background of some sort

I said I wanted to change the rock to a more earthy tone...? lol
Thats just what came with it and I forgot to pick different rock up earlier.

They're called cliffs. They suction cup to your glass. I've always
wanted a tank with them.

I thought about a black background, but thats me. Something that
way you don't see the wall or really the filter through the glass.

I like your idea of a black backgroung, that would look nice and help blend the inputs for the filter. Place the decorations less symetrical, that will give it a more natural appearence.

Quick Color spray paint works good. It's what I use and it's only like $1 at most places. I pretty much paint all my tank with black backgrounds.

With the cliff, maybe try growing something like java moss on it would look really cool hanging there. If your into growing live plants.
