I am ordering an acrylic.. 72" x 24" x 17" tank for rays and was wondering if the height of only 17" would be a problem if I wanted to add my Tig an Endli bichir and a Leichardti aro.. I am pretty sure the Tig and bichir would be fine but would the height be a constraint for the aro. Thanks guys...

I would think that with rays you would want to put a deep substrate in it for them to do what rays do. That would shrink the height of the tank another-what- three, four inches? Probably perfect for flat fish, but are some of those other tank mates you have in mind jumpers anyway?
Anyway, I'd go with my instinct on this one.

You should be alright, but frankly, I'd be more concerned with the 24" width. If you want to keep the smaller species-hystrix, scobina, and retics-then you're fine. Anything else and you are going to want 30" at a bare minimum.

I am not putting any substrate in and this is a temporary max 8 months tank.. The eventual one being 8' x 4' x 26" So if I get 11-12" Leos they will be fine in a 24 wide.
