I purchased a gold severum over the the weekend. He had a long car ride home but seemed to be doing well. Got him acclimated to his grow out tank (an established 55 with 3 angelfish, a green severum & a common pleco) and placed him in it. He seemed to be doing very well in the tank. After about 6 hours in the tank he is now breathing rapidly & floating around the tank. Sometimes upside down, sometimes on his side & occasionally he will swim straight for a few seconds. I immediately tested the water. Nitrates, Nitrites, Ph, Alkalinity & ammonia all safe levels. Tank temp is 82. I don't want to lose this fish. Please help

just curious. what was the ph? and do you have something going for oxygen in the water like a powerhead?

7.8??? that's prob why , what pH did it come from , sounds like you have shocked the poor fish.

the Ph in the water he was in before was 7.6 so I knew that it would be a little bit high for him but didn't expect it to be too bad. Will a water change & lowering the Ph save him?

eh. maybe when he was in the bag the temp change shocked him. he may need to just relax. 4 hours makes for alot of diff temps cuz the bag of water dont take long to change temp
