New Severums

Well I decided to go and get myself a pair of Red Spot Severums from my LFS. They are only 2" but i hope that i have a male and female, Since they have been in the tank around 30 min they haven't stopped lip locking. Is this a good sign or could they be trying to kill each other?
Before i get flamed for no pictures, i will try and take some later on tonight as i want to give them time to settle in:).

my two males lip lock when i moved them to a new tank. may just be territory thing. at 2'' i wouldnt think they would be pairing up yet.
 
Severums won't be ready to breed until they are about 4in or so. The lip locking thing... I don't know. Severums are nuts anyways and it may be serious and it may not. They may just be sizing each other up and once hierarchy is settled then all will be well. If I ever see badly torn fins or ripped lips, whoa, now we gotta separate.
 
yea they have a pecking order most of the time, if not theyll lip lock usually to figure it out, youll love them steve, one of my favorite sa cichlid!
 
As promised a couple of pics, There a little camera shy at the moment but settling in nicely. The lip locking has stopped and they havn't done any damage to each other:). They are in a 40g grow out tank at the present im deciding whether to put them in my 150g when the grow a little (this would mean moving on the aggressive fish that are in there at present) or talking the wife into letting me get a 90g for the living room:drool:.

They are so pretty! I have an 8" that had lots of red on its face as a young one, but now most is gone... still hes a beautiful fish... one of my favorites!
 
Nice looking guys you got there. I have heard they are line bred in singapore and they turn out to be mostly males. I have a male who breed with my gold but the eggs are no fertilized so assume he is sterile. They are a great fish and will get over the shy stage. Goodluck with them.

Heres mine, your should look similar when they get bigger.

ill answer that for ya buddy, no there not but there the same ones our LFS had. i couldnt persuade him to take me down there again... yet he would prolly buy a tex if he went there soo..
