IN YOUR HEAD
just picked one up today. i had to speacial order it and it was alot smaller then i expected at 2.5" maybe 3". i have been looking up pics of them and i get a "chubby" lake sturgeon looking fish and a white scooted black fish. is there any way to tall what you get or is the white scoots just a phase it will go through. also anyone got pics of them at 3" so i can verify it is a siberian?

i'll see what i can do about a pic. i have it in a floating bin so it doesn't get eatten. the wholesaler has had them for about a month or so and they have been kept at 75f or so and eatting "what ever i put in for them" the quote is from the whole saler. generally the wholesaler i got it from is good with the labels. it has been in my tank for about 2hrs and it is eatting pellets and market shrimp all ready.

from the pics i have seen it does look like a siberian adult in head structure. i just would like to know also if the white scooted fish are a different sp all to gether.

i got some crappy cell phone pics, but you can see the outline of its body

here are the best pics i can get for right now. i will try for some better pics after it is in a small tank instead of the box. it never stops swimming, it is more active then any fish i have ever owned. they also called it a russian sturgeon, but i know that it comes from russia along with a dozen other sp. so idk.

looks like the ones i was thinking of are called dimond's. from the looks of things it is a siberian. can't wait till it can safly go into my tank. witch acording to what i have read will be in a few months. would the 1-2" per month be a good growth rate to expect? atleast till the 3' mark?

mine looks just like BMUSCARI's sturgeon. so from that thread i will say it is a siberian for sure.

some better pics and would that growth rate be correct at 1-2" per month? it is starting to put on some good weight now. i know all about american sturgeons, but russian sturgeons i am new at.

It's a siberian sturgeon.. they are the most common found if pet stores.. I have 4 of them, and I would say they have grown about an inch since I have had them over the last month and a half. They have bulked up, and I am keeping them at room temp which is about 75F.

I feed them bloodworms, and NLS micro community pellets, and they are chubby.

I am starting them on plankton tomorrow.

The main keep is good water, and make sure you feed enough. Mine feed 3 times a day.

this is a different one then what the guy had before so i wasn't sure, had a good idea, but thanx for the confermation.

mine is in a tank that ranges between 70-80f. it will eat market shrimp, pellets and bloodworms atleast 2x daily. it got bit a few days ago as one of its arowana 'tankmates' that got into its floating box. it has made an almost full recovery and is doing great. i was worried at first, cause it did the tail curling deal that young sturgeons do before they die. very active and eatting all the time. the water is 100% perfict as i have young aros in the tank aswell witch require the same.

i have done hours and hours of reasurch on them, but most info comes from a european site and just about everything else leads to that site. is there any other sites that have good info on them cause i would like to see more then one companies 'care guide' even if the comany in question sells/breeds them.
