I finally got my 8" sliver last week, but unfortunately he has yet to eat, I have had him 6 days. The previous owner fed him raw peeled shrimp floating on a plastic plant.

I have tried that along with frozen blood worms, frozen krill, floating pellets. When it is feeding time, he seems to get freaked out and will sit at the bottom of the tank, while the other fish eat and wait awhile before swimming around again. There are clown loaches in the tank that he could easily eat, but thankfully has not.

Water change the day before I got him and yesterday so water quality is fine (ph 7.1-7.2) temp 80 degrees. Tank lights have only been on for about 2 hours since I got him. He is very jumpy. I know it can take some time for them to acclimate to a new tank, but any thoughts on what to do?

I was going to try crickets today.

Thanks in advance for your help.

try guppies and what is the amonia and nitrates in your tank at? my first arow i got acted like this and ended up dieing but that was due to the tank recycling.

hmm maybe the store had him/her on guppies try buyting either some small guppies or neons and throw them in the tank. also offer it worms and crickets.

or you can try soaking some shirmp in i think it was vinigar? idk about this i never tried it.

don't worry , he's just adjusting to new tank :)
just try to keep lights off , and just comtinue to try to feed him shrimps.
its normal for them to not eat for a few days.
i had an aro which didn't eat for 2 weeks when i transferred its tank .

when i bought 2 of my arows they ate after 5 mins in the tank. but than again i bought anouther that died 7 days after i got him. just keep the lights off and try and feed him

I had the same problem when i got my new silver on saturday, however that was for just one day as i went to bed that night he had a giant red eye tetra in his mouth and last night he was eating frozen krill like it was going out of style.

someone told me to try crickets and that they can usely not turn them down. i didnt have to go that far tho.

good luck with him! :D

I've had an aro go for a couple weeks without eating, but one day he just snapped out of it.
I'd keep offering what he ate before, I'm sure he's adjusting.

on here somewhere they would soak there shrimp in vinigar to have there arowanas eat it. was like 2 weeks ago i think
