ok well i got a new lil guy...paid a lil more than i wanted for him...40 bucks...but in my area they are hard to find and the last one i bought was a tiny lil guy at about 2 inches and he didnt make it...(lfs said all 4 they got didnt make it one was the one i had bought)....hes about 6-7 inches...and very nice looking...pics dont do him justice hes too scittish still...maybe ill try again later...couple questions i got...what would be a good tank mate for him in a 55 for the next couple months...hes still too small to go in my big tank and im scared he wont be able to defend himself so i wanna let him grow out a bit in the planted 55...theres a common pleco in there now...but this guy never moves from his cave and is the laziest lil plec i have ever seen...lol...so do u guys think i should put anything in there with him??...other is food...hes eaten some bloodworms since i got him home...but im gonna try some crickets later on this week...what should i get him adapted too??...pellets??...what do u think??...well enjoy the pics...

First of all your tank setup is gorgeous and so is the arowana of course! As for tankmates IMO i would add more arowanas and grow them out to your larger tank. WHICH IS WHAT SIZE? :)
I have no problem with my 7"-8" Silver being in with my 16"-17" Jardini in my 180<----yea better believe it! As for food i feed my arowanas on a shrimp diet but usually some crickets as treats(they love them but to costly) Other then that some hikiri pellets. Mine hates live feeders such as minnows and goldfish. Good luck with the little Monster in Training. :D

thank u for the comments guys...my big tank is 300 gallons and currently only holding 2 rb pacu...which is still small for these fish but they are not fully grown yet...dont know if i will be able to keep them much longer...only time will tell...but yes the tank is a planted tank...all real plants...and the substrate is eco-complete which is a special substrate for plants that has nutrients and what not...tank still isnt done...alot more plants and some more driftwood coming this week...gonna give my silver plenty of cover and plants!...thanks again guys

Try some coventinal community fish, angelfish, gouramis etc. You,ll just want to make sure they are not so small that they will fit in your aros mouth. You could also go with some type of sa/ca cichlids just make sure they are only half the length of you aro(the cichlids may make for problems in a planted tank though).

As for feeding I would only feed quality pellets for now, once he is eating pellets you can expand his menu. He is large enough that it will not hurt to starve him until he will accept the pellets.

thanks guys...i tried giving him some pellets this morning...didnt take him...he hasnt eaten yet since i got him...but its only been 2 days...will try again when i get home...thanks again
