i recently bought a 6-7 inch silver aro (3 days ago) and he is eating pellets on his 3rd day in the tank, but it seems that about every 3-4 hours it will go to the bottom of the tank (180 gal) with just its anal fin touching the gravel and stay there for up to 10 minutes, is it just resting or is something wrong, also it does have ich but it is being treated with aquarium salt right now.
Don't treat with anything else especially salt. Just keep a close observation until you see abnormal signs. Your fish is still adjusting to its surroundings.
why shouldn't i put salt in the water, it is just aquarium salt for freshwater tanks. and i had to put some salt in because of the ich, i dont want to lose a $70 fish to ich or accidently kill it with medicine

the only thing is that he is very picky about it pellets, i bought it sanyu arowanaEX food for asian arowanas (thought it might enhance its color) and it wont touch them but as soon as you throw in any kind of hikari food hes all over it.
Yet another living proof that if you are lucky aro will eat hikari straight away ^^
New aro sitting at the bottom happended to two of my silvers. They did that alot when someone approach the tank. Yours will get over it once he get used to your tank and people
your aro is way fine...just adjusting to its surrounding.well, I usually add salt to my aquarium every WC.just to secure my aro and gar from ich.well add some feeders, a couple or two to increase his aggression.
