hi all hope this is the right section for snakehead
well i picked up another sh shop does not know the name of it neither do i so help me please
not got a photo as yet but i will try and describe it its about 4 inchs just now its two colors half brown on the lower half and the upper half is cream/fawn in color its a bit shy just now i think the shop got it in and did not realise what they had got only cost me a fiver

I've had the saqme sort of problem ! i have just bought a speices of Snakehead i belive it to be the Channa Marulioides.

I think what it is with the Uk and Snakeheads is that most LFS's they don't look into what they have they sell on hear say ! But there is that many different species of Snakehead it's quite difficult to keep up with them ...lol
 
Get a photo even if you take it with you phone put it on here and if not me some one I assure you will tell you what it is there is about 28 varieties of snakehead fish so more pic the better also juvenals look completely different to the parents the one in the picture when he was small had hardly the marking he had at that size the classic example is the red snakehead people by these lovely coloured little fish it eats every thing and grow from this to this.

Your description sounds like it could be either a Lucia, Insignis, or Obscura since they share the same color and patterns.

Here's how my Lucia looked like:

This color pattern is when it's active. When it is threatened or inactive, it usually has the solic dark brown color on the bottom, and tan on top.
