I splurged on some crayfish today, I really like the color on these though.

Will the orange cray's color get better with age and diet? Or is it pretty much going to stay the color I got it at? Thanks :)

From the bit i gathered feeding your crays foods rich in animal proteins and of course color foods will bring out stronger red colors and feeding them algae or veggie rich foods will help bring out the blues.
That said when i bought my first "orange" crayfish he looked quite orange, like yours. Now he looks more red. And my whites will get more yellow, especially along their carapace, the closer they get to molting. I feed primarily cichlid pellets rich in animal proteins.
I'm hoping switching them to algae based foods will help keep my whites whiter and my C. quads blue, as they have developed a lot of red/purple compared to the near solid blue color they where when i first got them.
I also have a second orange, much lighter in color than the first. I'm hoping she stays the light orange color she is now.
Will be interesting to see what you get with yours. :D

Wow, gorgeous. You got lucky.

Cool thanks for all the info! I'm feeding hikari pellets, so they're getting a lot of animal protein, but I'll switch to a spirulina based pellet once I finish the bag of pellets I already have.

I want to see more pics of your crays :)

Yeah definitely, I found them at two different stores.

I had a blue clarkii a couple years ago, but it escaped it's tank and died. I'm really trying to find another one now. :(

I was feeding mine some sinking pellts by ocean free at first. Then it turned out to be very yellow. So now i swap to Hikari algae wafers which are turning them back to their white. As in really white. So u might wan to try?
