hi all,
ive finally finished my stand after weeks of looking through all the builds. The stand is built with 2 by 4's is 6ft and will hold my 5ft tank until i can build a 6ft long by 3ft high ply tank. i intend to frame the plytank in 2 by 4's for safety so this was the perfect practice project.
this was the first time ive built anything with wood, i used 2 1/2 inch screws and gripfill as i had them in the shed and money's tight, it turned out fine.
The main thing i have taken from this build is to predrill the screwholes and use an electric drill. i tried drilling straight into the wood with a battery powered drill and got nowhere after 2 hrs work.
heres the photos first photo is me checking i got the cutting right, the rest are during build.
one final point.. i wasent sure this would be strong enough even after seeing it done on MFK, how wrong i was. This thing would hold my car
