I built this stand to replace my old less sturdy stand.
The old stand only had a cloth covering and I got tired of not having "real" doors :nilly:
The new stand.....I used 2x4's (doubled vertically pieces), 1/4" plywood to finish it. My total came to $110 after all materials.....lumber, stain, hardware...etc. I'm pretty happy with it and my wife is glad that it doesn't look like crap :headbang2

Looks awesome. Much better then the old stand. I'm thinking about making a stand for a couple of reptile tanks I have. I'm tried of seeing them on snack trays. Plus the two tanks I have are side by side right now. I figure that if I stack them it will give me more room. I could get a metal stand to put the two tanks on but I hate the way they look.

nice work-looks like you and I used the same foot print in the framing of it.Only thing is mine is not stained yet and I still havent finished my trim on top because I need to get my table saw out that is buried under piles of crap in my shed:ROFL:good job.I do not have hinged doors either and they actually pull out completely from the stand.heres mine:

If I could have changed anything about mine is the height.I think yours is perfect height and allows easier access to the storage area.I have just enough room for my cannisters etc but also have a 10 gal tank underneath for quarantine on feeders or hospital issues.I should have made it like 10" taller for more room.

thanks for them comments everybody :headbang2

katschamne: I know what you mean about the metal stands....they work but don't look the same as a wood stand. You could always just use a metal stand with finishing board over it.

Hap3niz: If you have any questions, let me know! I would encourage you to build your stand as soon as you get a chance....its really not that bad putting one together....I did it so it can't be to hard :D

itsbadlands: Very nice stand!!!! It looks awesome. About the height of my stand...it turned out to be right at 31 inches tall. Only thing about the stand I would possibly change is the trim work on mine, mabey something a little more "ellegant". I'm also thinking about making a hood for it. I have the plans done up on it but have to find the time to build it.

nigaharu: be sure to post your diy project!

Nice looking stand. Great job!
