So Ive had alot of fish most aggressive and wanted to switch over to a community tank thats planted. The tank Im using was a salt water setup but im going back to fresh. My first question is- I like the look of sand ( The more natural the better). Can I use live sand in a fresh water tank as a substrate?

I would think if it is live sand it must be salt water to stay alive?

you ofcourse would have to wash it good, ive heard salt and plants dont do that well together.you can also use another substrate on bottom and top it off with sand

You can use the sand, but your water will be very hard, and plants will not grow as well.
