hey so my new heater just arrived..lol i am surprised by it's length(i had a small aquatic reptile heater..like half the size)

anyways, i can't seem to find a good area to place it...i mean i can't put it directly in-front of the filter output since, my heater won't be able to stick to it..

any advice?

also, is a 150watt heater pretty hot underwater? like could it cause MAJOR burns?

Would that heater work for a 10g fish tank?

I think I had one of those heaters for one of my lizards. Try putting it under a rock.

The 150watt will most likely cause burns.

haha i'm not sure about using a 150watt on a 10g tank..i think it'll still be above 80F even at the lowest setting...but again i just got this thing and i'm the one asking questions so don't listen to me.lol

wait a lizard? are we talking about the same thing?? submersible heaters??

fully submersible, I dont like putting them straight up and down. I'd go horizontal near the surface, over a bubble diffusor so it gets current and stays almost out of sight.

a 150 would work in a 10G, they have an internal thermostat

Yup, he was semi-aquatic. I forgot what kind of lizard he was, but he was interesting.

Yeah put it horizontal, as apposed to vertical. If you are heating water it will be fine. And why would it matter in the summer?^^ it would just turn off. stealths do a good job of heating the water to what the thermostat is set to, again as apposed to cheaper models that need to be adjusted by what they "actually" heat the water to. Stealths are fine and it will work....

Why does everyone think that because its summer, you dont need a heater? Temps are much more stable if you use one, regardless. Even at night it still may drop below 65F in some areas, which, if the fish are exposed to, can cause some ich outbreaks.

yeah the room is made out of marble tiles..VERY cold.
and plus my stand isn't ready yet so the tank is actually touching the marble..

wait what!! so if the room temperature gets low/high, the tank will maintain a constant temperature?(in my case 78F?)

i can't seem to find a good area around the surface..don't think it gets any current on the tank walls, and i have some plastic from the turtle dock that is taking up the tank wall..
i've set it at 82F yesterday but it's still at 78.1F right now..

oh and if at the surface; i won't be able to do big water changes..
like it would take time..turn it off 20min, add water then wait 20min then turn on..
i am worried that my turtle will get cold during that 40minutes..

Water retains heat much better than air does. Do the water changes.
