New Stealth Pro Heaters!!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
why did they bother if they still didn't include an indicator light?

you notice that there are a lot of stealth malfunctioning threads on here. some with fish losses.

I can't help but think some of these could have been avoided with the simple inclusion of a traditional indicator light.

if it is stuck on for 5 hours, you will notice it a lot easier than without the light...

you might realize "hey that light is always on. I better check that"

From what I can see... there is a bubble on top which is most likely the light...

I've used Stealth Heaters for a lot of years and have had overall excellent success with them. I haven't had one overheat a tank and the only one I've had fail was easily replaced by the manufacturer.

I can't speak for every stealth failure out there, but I do know a lot of them I've followed I considered the failure due to user error more so than product failure...

Just to toss in, I still think they suggest using more W per G than necessary and that using more W per G than necessary can harm the heater...

I think that is true of almost all the heater manufacturers. inculding the Ebo Jagers. they all seem to recommend something like 5W per gallon when 3W is fine even in a cold room...

I use 2W per gal provided the room is no more than 15*F cooler than my tank temp...

The link provided above to the new Stealths suggests right around 3W per gal...

I agree all manufacturer's recommend way to much heater per gal... I haven't checked what any of them recommend in years...

Yeah they suggested a 250 for my tank and if it had stuck on like my 200 did it would have fried my fish.
200 on a 90 gallon did a great job until it stopped turning off. :screwy:

digital thermometers with an alarm are only about 6 bucks at radio shack.....mine starts beeping if water goes below 78 or above 82.
