Hey guys, im new to the forum and a fellow member Laz( ).
My gf and i just recently got a great deal on a used 75 gallon tank with stand and pumps and a 10 gallon tank as well. I am relatively new at this so i will be asking some questions ^^.

Well heres the items that were given to me:
* 75 gallon tank and stand with all gravel included as well as 1 decoration plant, 2 small trees, and a large coral looking thing.
* Magnum 350 and 250 filters as well as one of the things that keeps the water moving on top.
* 2 aerators, and misc. items such as a net etc.
* 10 gallon tank where they had guppies in with light and filter
* as far as fish he included 2 red bellied Pacu about 8-9 inches long, a silver dollar about 5 inches, a dragonfish, albino catfish, spotted catfish, and a small african cichlid.

We went today to some shops to get some fish to add to the tank.
We bought another african cichlid, 2 other cichlids which i cant remember the names now, a small pleko, a 4 inch koi, and some sort of zebra fish i think they were called.

I am sorry for not knowing all the fish names and everything but bear with me i just got into this and am learning as i go.

The owner of the Pacu said they ate potatoes sometimes cut into small pieces, algea discs, and sometimes pebbles.

I am trying to get rid of the Pacu atm, my gf wants to do a mostly cichlid tank and the pacu are quite big. They are said to be aggresive but these are very calm around the smaller fish and wouldnt even hurt guppies, now the 2 inch african is another story...

1st question:
What should i feed my fish?
I went to a shop where i bought some of the fish and the store manager reccomended i buy really small pebbles and i did. Most fish ate them quite fast and some took a while to eat them. Is this because they are nervous and not used to being in this environment and it will change as they spend more time with the other fish, or is it because they dont like the food. Keep in mind ive only had the fish for around a day now.

2nd question:
Is there any way to get my water super clear or are there always gonna be tiny air bubble looking particles around the fishtank? I have the 3 filters on it atm, maybe it takes a couple of days for the water to completely clear up?

I will post some pictures of my tank and a video if i can, thanks for your help!

I need to take pictures of the new fish.

Do you have a master test kit to test the water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates? I would watch all of those for a while before adding any new fish and don't feed much for a few days as well.

Yes, sometimes fish will not eat for a couple days after being moved.

If you did not clean the filters or gravel when you moved the tank then you will probably avoid going through a fishkilling cycle while the tank reestablishes itself. You should still test for a few days to make sure, and do big water changes anytime the levels are elevated.

If you have not already, be sure to read up on the freshwater cycle, AKA bacteria cycle.

And here is a cool site that will tell you if you have too much fish in the tank or if one does not get along with others. http://www.aqadvisor.com/

Thanks alot, i made sure to clean all the gravel and the filters before putting them in, and Lazaro passed by my house, helped me set it up and addes the bacteria, and the chemical to eliminate the chlorine in the water as well. He tested the PH before putting the fish and everything seems ok for now. Ill check that site now!

The previous owner had told me he only cleaned the tank maybe once or twice a month since he only had about 7 fish in it, now that i have more, how often should i do this?

You need to start over lol. Get rid of the Pacu ASAP. They get 2-3 feet. I would also get rid of the koi and silver dollar as well, they are a schooling fish. I would do african cichlids with what you have now. Probably add 10 more small Mbuna.

Welcome to the site! Nice tank and setup.
I used to have 3 pacus that outgrew my tank in no time. fortunatly the lady at my LFS traded me 2 of my pacus for free fish food and a discount on another fish.
About feeding your fish:
- pacus WILL eat anything. i mostly fed mine veggie rounds, beefheart, krill, bloodworms, flakes, etc.
- The air bubbles around your tank will clear up. Thats a standard effect for all new tanks when getting new fish, decor, plants, gravel etc. just give it a couple more days.

Get the pacu the hell out of there!! They grow insanely big and never stop! And if you put another fish i there don't add an oscar. Id say go with a bunch of smaller africans...

Pacus and goldfish?

I won't go any further
