Needs a lot of work!

Together we can really make this thing cool!

Info:

75 gallon freshwater predator tank
temp:79
ph: 7
Plants: majority fake, some mondo grass (live), kyoto (live), two live plants that i dont know.
African driftwood
Fish: 1 hujeta gar (awesome), 1 saber tusk barracuda (amazing eater however boring), 6 buenos aires tetra (awesome fish), 6 small tetra (too fast for lunch), two angels (surprisingly aggressive).

Looking for problems and tank mates. If i did something wrong other than putting the sabertusk in let me know and i need fish suggestions.

My favorite fish are the american tiger dat, and also african pike, but we need tank mates to stick around and i think both will eat this tank down to nothing.

Go for a shovelnose or some arrowana. or both!
just fiy, the mondo grass isn't true aquatic and will decline and die in time. looks like it will be a nice pred tank though. I would add a few plecos too to help control the algae (plus i think its cool to grow them).

for a time..... then you build a 200 gal. baby steps, baby steps

there are some cool knife species that could fit in that size tank though

looks bigger than a 75 :O
anyway, an arowana and shovelnose wont fit there for life :/
but it would be cool to have a lima in there until he outgrows then have a pond :)

when i was younger i had a 2' aussie arowana. coolest fish ive ever had but it would be cramped in here even though they are shorter. but it is a 75 gallon long tank with no internal filter equipment storage. just acryl and water baby. 5 ft. tank. the aro and the cat would still get too big though.

Thanks for the responses so far. Here is a picture of what i think i want to do for plants.

As far as fish, i would like to have at least 6 fish of considerable size. That means no arowana 2' long. No pacus. 6 predators.

Maybe a leaf fish or two? maybe an african brush fish? something similar to a dat but not quite as big?

I think this sabertusk needs to find a nice home in a river or pond over in woodside or something. I love the gar though. i want one or two more or an african pike.

As far as plants go I would like some sort of grass in the front and long swords in the back to the right and left but i cant find any long ones.

Any suggestions on how to make this happen.

What about CO2? will it kill anything?

The green and white striped plant you X¨ed out on the left in your last post is deffinatly not a keeper, its a houseplant. it will probably just rot in the tank.

Other than that, i like the setup, very natural. Got a river feeling to it.
