Hello. I'm a saltwater aquarium buff, but I decided to give this freshwater business a try (cheaper lol). I actually signed up for this site a long time ago in order to show my support ifor your HR669 thread. Or lack of support...whichever way you want to look at it lol.

Anyway, I am having a lot of trouble making up my mind about what fish to buy for this new tank. It is a 29 (I know...pretty small) with a 20 gallon sump. Along with it I have a penguin 70 gal biofilter 350 I think..., a 2x60 watt pc light, a heater, sand, 15-20 pounds of rock, bubbler, spray bar to distribute flow over the sand, and a couple powerheads (subject to removal). I'm using 50% ro/di and 50% well water.

My parameters are as follows:

Ammonia: 1ppm

Nitrite: 0

Nitrate: 0

kH: 300-alkaline

gH: 150-hard

pH: 7.8

I am looking for one or more brightly colored fish to add to this tank. Also, I am wanting something readily available. I'm generally attracted to solid colored fish...I was thinking cichlids due to my water parameters...but nothing is set in stone.

Here are a few pictures:

The bowl is a splash guard lol. So...any advice is appreciated THANK YOU!

I guess you can't edit posts...bummer. Oh well I still really like the forums so far t^

I forgot to add 0 phosphate and that the tank is no longer cloudy as it is in the pictures-just thought you should know.

Some Cichlids are really colorful but you cant go wrong with a small bichir.

Bichir...aren't those long, skinny, and ugly?

Haha some have interesting patterns but I don't think any bichir would look good in your tank.. I'd aim for geo's or something along those lines..
