i am looking at a silver arowana for a tank that measures 72" x 20" x 20" long. I think i would like to get a silver could it live in there for for life or would a jardini ( i would be living with a severum 2 parrots cichlids a fire eel ) clown knife be a better choice.

everything will out grow your tank that your potentially getting a jardini would be good for a while and would need an upgrade, but you would only end up with the jar as it would own every other fish, a silver would need to upgrade as well, same with a ck

neither of the two arowana species you mention could live for long in that tank. The jardini will get well over 24", some say as large as 36" but more likely 30". Within a couple years and have a hard time coping with the 20" width. Also jars do not go well with tankmates.

The sitsuation with tank size would be about the same with a silver aro too, but the silver can be kept with a variety of different tank mates. The tank would be good for only 1-1 1/2 years before needing a much larger tank.
