OOOOK I am wanting to build a 6'x4'x24" ACRYLIC tank. I have researched on here about building, sealing and everything. GREAT information. My main questions is... is there a CERTAIN type of acrylic I would need? Im going to be using 3/4"thick but I didnt know if there was a type of acrylic. thanks guys and i will keep you posted.

I haven't seen any polycarbonate fish tanks, though thin-walled critter keepers and mouse cages are sometimes made from it. Expense is one issue; acrylic is usually cheaper. Leaching of toxic bisphenol-A is a more serious problem.

Acrylic tanks use cell-cast acrylic, as Mike mentioned.
