ok ive been thinking :naughty: i want to build a 8'x4'x3' tank . im planning on building the sides and back with concrete blocks and then line it with plywood which will then be fibre glassed and gelcoat finish . the front will be partial block as then i can put the glass behind it. the bottom of the tank will be supported with either block pillars or i may use 2 small rsj,s to span the 8' length which would be better as i can put my sumps underneath it:) .

now then what thickness glass would i need for the tank front , the tank works out at 719 gallons . this is going to be for the fwrays .

any advice appreciated .

Lose the block, and do an all wood build. The block is WAY overkill, and it is just gonna add a ton of weight to the overall build. Do research here in the threads, check out the stickeys. There you will find the info you are looking for pertaining to glass thickness.

The size would be great. Search button in your friend. ;)

Good luck, and post pics when you get started.
