I'm looking into getting a bigger tank built and i would post this in the other forums but i don't think they would be able to give me a answr was well. I'm wondering if glasd or acryloc is better for rays. And is a overflow better or not. And what filtration is best for a tank that is 450 gallons or more. Any suggestions are wantes was well. I don't want to upgrafe again. Thanks

glass or acrylic both will work goods and overflow is fine , if you have 450g you need 100g or 125g wet dry sump spe custom make with full ceramic and 36 watt uv light ,

acrylic is lighter.. but with rays mouths ide lean towards glass. i would suggest the diy sub forums as well for ideas. personally im a big fan of overflow/sump set ups since you don't have to worry about heater burns and they can handle the bio load of rays more efficently imo then canisters.

What is a ray's mouth going to do to an acrylic tank? Personally I would not do glass. Mine loved to play with the silicone in the corners.

Thanks you guys. Ive never had any experienve with An overflow beforw so how does it heat the water? And is maintinace easier on it?
you can heat the water in the sump and not have the heater in the tank

ive seen ray tanks with rasp marks.. no plecos in the tank. ive also been told by a few people some rays will bite the acrylic. but ive also been told about the silicone in glass tanks. just seems most people prefer glass with rays? or is this wrong? i know my 3 dont bother the silicone in my tank.
