Hey I just bought a used 150 gallon the other day. The biggest tank I've previously owned is a 70 gallon so this a major upgrade and i have a few questions.

The tank came with a sump, here are pics of it and the pump. Will I need extra filtration for this tank? Pump had no info on the gph or anything. Also this is my first time with a sump haha.

This is a pic of a piece that broke while moving. What is it called exactly and where can I get one? The lfs here sucks so my only option is petsmart or online. Or is this a piece I can get at a hardware store?

Tank is dirty and has mucho algea but will begin cleaning tomorrow.

Plan on using this tank as an eartheaters tank.

Thanks for any and all info.

First off your tank came with a wet dry filter (sump part of it is where the return pump is sitting). Most people put a valve on the return of the pump so you can throttle back the flow if you need to. It is your biological filtration with some mechanical if your using pads on top of the drip trays.

The broken piece appears to be a barb fitting for the intake bulkhead. It's hard to tell if they can screw off or if it's glued in. You might have to buy a new bulkhead fitting the same size. I would suggest getting it online as it would be cheaper.

Depending on what your planning to stock in your tank, that would dictate any additional filtration you might need. If your going to reuse the current bulkheads that are not broken you might want to replace the O-rings just as a precaution and that way you can inspect them for cracks.

Congrats on the new tank, it should cleanup nicely.

That's a barbed bulkhead. It's 1 piece, and you'll need to purchase a replacement bulkhead.

Hmmmmmm whats that dirt bike in the background? Cant tell what it is unless its a newer bike that came stock with excels.

That's my brothers Yamaha 125. He races, I'm not exactly sure of all the specifics of the bike though. He actually got a lot of new gear today, which was pretty cool.

I like to keep 2 heaters in mjy sump in case one dies. Go with 2-200 watt heaters or a 200 and 150.
if the tank has been sitting for a long time with no water, I'd definately replace the o-rings on the bulkheads. They will leak if dried out

Alright I have like 4 heaters that are at least 200 watts. I know I'll be placing the heaters in the sump part of the wet dry filter but the water level is only at like 5 inches, will that still heat the whole tank?

Also are barb bulkheads sold at Lowes?

Thanks for the info.
