the new tank i got has a lil of a leak... i think it has to do with the silicon around the bottom edge of the tank... do i really have to replace it( can i just cover over)?... its a very very small leak...

It would be best to break it down, strip out the old silicon and start over. Silicon does not bond well to old silicon (oddly enough). You may get lucky with a cover, but the BEST thing to do, the thing that will last the longest, is to do it right.

yup. gotta strip it and clean the old silicone off with a razor. lay down a big fat bead of new silicone and smooth it out with your finger, pushing it in tight to the seams. Also throw some silicone on the outside edges.
If all alse fails, use 2 part epoxy.

youre going to have to take it apart.. you cant just cover the leak with some goop--the goop wont adhere to a wet seal anyways.. drain it, let it dry and fix it with silicone.. i wouldnt leave it running, it will get worse.

You are going to have to break it down clean off the old silcone and trdo it. Other wise the leak will retun if you manage to seal it in the first place by just covering it.

its out of use and dry.... if i cut away the part thats leaking can i jus redo do that seal or do i gotta do the whole thing? or is just covering really out of the question
