got my 55 gal tank kit today came with heater ,filter, light/lid. going to put an under gravel filter and two power heads in it. thinking black gravel on bottom with some plants and a natural looking stump thing for a pleco to hide in.

fish: my 2, 5-6inch RBPs
gonna buy a pleco

any other sugustions?

ditch the undergravel filter and buy either a small canister or a strong hob filter. And dont get the pleco, he will end up being chomped.

And keep one of your p's in your 29 or get another similar size p to add.

y no undergravel filter? i like them and the way the tank stays clear, my moms 120 gal dosnt have a undergravel filter and its always dirty. my 10 & 29 gal do have undergravel filters and the tank and the rocks are always cleaner then hers

Ugf are not very efficient especially if you are trying to house piranhas. A canister would be the most ideal but a strong hob would do a better job than the Ugf

i went with no undergravel filter and im filling up the tank now. ill be running 2 power filters 60 gal versions and probly 1 or 2 power heads. I have had nothing but problems with canister filters and for the price ill stay away from them.
