Hey guys, I have the best wife in the world - leading to me getting another 125g tank. I currently have a 125g Lake Malawi setup with mbuna and haps, and while I like it would like to try something a little different. Unfortunately I am not going to be setting up this tank until after we move in Dec. (would have waited, but too good of a deal), but it does give me time to plan.

So, I was originally thinking a Lake Tanganyika tank, but am also considering a predatory hap tank. I am also open to other ideas.

Anyway the question is if you had an empty 125g tank sitting around what would you stock it with? You can list specific species or just be general (ex. hap tank, peacock, Tang tank, frontosa, etc.).

Thanks.

I am definitely thinking about a frontosa tank, but not fully decided. I will definitely get pics up when I get the tank set up, unfortunately I am not going to set up the tank until after the wife and I move to TN in December. We just saw a really good deal on craigslist and decided to go ahead and get it. There are just more tanks available in Chicagoland than in TN and they are cheaper.

If I decided to do a frontosa colony, how many could I put in there (without being ridiculous)? Also, are there other fish that would do well with them?

Hmmmm... What kind of fronts are you thinking about? If its a 125 gallon then you could probably do up to 8 and sell them when they get like 10 inches and re buy or keep them till 12 then sell lol. There going to be worth a lot of money at that size. If you are going to do a Frontosa Colony I would suggest just keeping it to Fronts, but there are lots of cichlids that can go well if they are introduced at the same time. Just keep in mind Frontosa's are very very cool looking fish when they have long fins, so if you get a fin nipper its not going to look as cool and put slight stress on the fish. Good luck :)

I would do a do a 12" long shellbed or leave it open for sand sifters, the have a larger rockpile on one end with a trio of Calvus then a school of open water cyps to finish it off. That would be wicked in a tank that size.
