Hi guys and gals. Im a newbie getting back into the fish game after a 12 year absence, living in Australia. I need some help deciding on what is best in keeping with arowana's. I was thinking Dovii's or gars, though im not sure in regards to temperment. I want an agressive tank, but still need happy residence. Any thoughts, on something that will give attitute, and also on something with a talking point as a bottom dweller.
Looking forward on some expert advise, and thank you in advance.
:)

First off, where do you live? How big of a tank do you want and how deep are your pockets? Arowana's run into the 3 figure sums, as do thier tank gallonage requirements.

Hi, gars can be kept with arowanas, depending on what type of arowana or gar you are thinking of. If you are looking for a unique bottom dweller, I would suggest a larger growing species of Bichir, such as Polypterus ornatipinnis or Polypterus endlicheri.

I would get a Jardini then as a silver aro might have a hard time turing around in the future, tank mates are limited though

I would easily skip the Jardini. An aggressive community could consist of large Central American cichlids and a couple of plec's for the bottom.
