Hey guys, first off thanks so much for all the nice comments. I am so excited to finally have a tank again! It's not a 150G but it's also not stuck in my BASEMENT a place I will never put a tank again, after going through that Irene Flood and heating-oil spill.
Had some technical problems with this build that delayed me until 11pm last night and lots of extra work that all could have been avoided if I simply took some measurements before setting everthing up.
First off I should have checked to see if the filter Pro3e 2078 would even fit under my 90G stand. I assumed it would because it fit under my 150G stand, that was my first mistake.
These canisters barely fit under the stand, the fit is SO TIGHT because of there HEIGHT that they have to be placed as far back as possible in the stand, instead of having them centered on each side in the stand to distribute there massive weight evenly, something I am worried about.
If I would have went with a pair of Eheim Pro3e 2076 filters I would have had so much less trouble. That filter is almost identical to the 2078, but it has 3-media-baskets instead of 4 and with the less height would have fit perfectly under my stand.
Now if anyone here has ever worked with eheim tubing they know that once this tubing is placed on the plastic hose connection, its almost impossible to remove. I mean IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to remove. You have to come very close to breaking the plastic hose connection assembly with the BRUTE force it takes if you need to remove the tubing.
Again I never measured anything cut my tubing a little on the extra long side and installed everthing.
Fired up the filters and the electronics started constantly re-adjusting the flow-rate on the filters, I had these same filters on my 150G and never saw this before.
After closer inspection I started getting sick to my stomach, I thought for sure that I was going to be removing both filters, having to remove all that bio-media (16-liters worth!) and was going to have to pack up both filters and send them back, all because they were to tall for the stand.
THE DANG HOSE CONNECTIONS at the filter connection were being bent almost closed because there was not enough clearance because the canister was to TALL!! AHH!!! It also didn't help that I cut the hoses to long which was adding more bending!
Had to re-cut the hoses ULTRA-SHORT in hopes I could avoid the bending of the lines at the filter connection.
And I couldnt just remove the spray bar and in-take to cut from that end of the hose, because I ZIP-TIED those connections for added safety. I had to remove the hoses from the filter connection.
1 hour later after cursing and slamming a few beers down I was able to remove the hoses for cutting. I think I broke the bones in my hands trying to remove all 4-connections of tubing.
This time I measured and had to cut the lines as SHORT as possible in hopes they would not bend.
Everthing re-hooked the filters have been running fine for almost 24-hrs, the electronics have not re-adjusted the flow-rate and everthing is running full-speed.
There is still some slight bend in the lines at the connection to the filter that cannot be fixed, all because the canister is to tall for the stand. But not enough bend to cause the filter to re-adjust the flow-rate.
Lesson learned, MEASURE everthing, before setup!
Anyone with a 75-gallon/90-gallon stand I would not recommend this filter, you have to use the slightly smaller version Pro3e 2076 the 2078 is just to tall.
Going to setup the light right now and drop in the heater and will post up some pics in a BIT.
Thanks for reading this winded response
