So, I want another fish for my tank and was wondering what your guys suggestions are... price don't matter...

So i have a texas cichlid who has killed off a convict, dempsey, RD, and Midas but loves her new spot face pike tank mate:screwy:(they fought for 4 days straight but now sleep together and never leave each other's side except when she patrols at night) she still chases the pleco for no good reason(poor pleco)... anyways what you think for tank mates? the first two fish were killed in the old tank as she grew up and i tried to mate her with the larger male RD and Midas... ... i will be buying a way bigger tank in about 2 years, but for know it's a 140 with the texas, pike, and pleco... the pike is about 8" texas about 9" they might be bigger... i'll have to measure..

anyways... was thinking 1 of these:
-Jaguar
-True Parrot
-lima shovelnose

i'm thinking anything that is shaped like her she might go to town on... so maybe a footlong shovelnose would be good? tanks 18" deep so i think right around the time i go bigger will be when it is ready for a bigger tank anyway?

suggestions appreciated... would like to go with something rare maybe...THANKS!!

just measured... pike is like 10"... thought he was smaller cuz texas looks massive... compared... and texas is solid 9

bump for idea-less people...

your point? i'm just saying the fish that didn't work... JD, convict, RD and Midas all RIP...the pike is working awesome maybe because of shape..

just wondering if anyone has any suggestions...which you clearly don't....thanks for your post:screwy:

a red devil maybe?

yea was thinking about that and trying to breed again, red texas FTW!! but the tank looks good with her and the pike so i'm thinking something different that won't breed with her...

I really don't see why there have been so many posts lately about how aggressive JDs are. I just don't see it. I've had a lot of large cichlids and JD rank very low on the aggression scale. I can see a Tex beating a JD. I actually had a Tex and JD together about 10 years ago and I had to remove the Tex because it wouldn't stop beating the JD. Anyway, I think you're right, Gasha, for not wanting to get a fish with a similar build to your Tex. If she whipped a RD and a Midas, she'll probably kill anything that remotely resembles a Tex too. I would say a Green Snook would look nice in your tank but I don't think they have the jaw power to fight with your Tex if she turns violent. I don't know much about catfish so I can't chime in on that choice. I only have a Raphael and that is totally different than a Shovelnose. Maybe a large Parachromis or Amphilophus would work. You would have a lot to choose from these species.
