My search for a 3' wide 300g + tank was a nightmare. Not one pet store in my area was able to get one in. It was considered custom ( doubling the price at best) ,and nobody wanted to even make one. The largest size most of the pet stores carried (and by carried I mean they can order from a supplier) was 210g. So I considered myself lucky to find a guy who can get a 240g acrylic with a stand for less than $2k. It's only 2" wide, but thats the best I can do I guess:irked:

Anyway.....

How should I filter this tank? I currently have some xp3's and ac110's on most of my tanks. Nothing bigger than 100g though. The tank does not have overflows built in and is not drilled. I would possibly like to set a sump up to go underneath it, but I love how quiet the canister filters are. It would also be nice to hide all the heaters and tubing but I dont want to void a warranty by drilling.

Any ideas or suggestions??

2x FX5's, but id recommend an FX5 and a sump

I would go with jcardona's suggestion, an FX5 and a sump. Sumps aren't as loud as you think (at least you can play with them to quiet them down). Plus the sump offers you so much more flexibility than a canister (IMO).

yup canister and a sump.... sump give supreb bio and canisters offer better mechanical....

the best of both worlds, can ask for more than that, and perfecto just came out with a new line of 36" deep tanks, called "corner over flow tanks" atleast i think thats what they are called

Everyone else nailed it. DIY your wet/dry to offset the $200 bone you will be getting on a fx5. IMO they are the best though for a powerful canister. Ehiem is over priced.

Thanks guys.

I've never had a sump, but I will start looking through the DIY area. I'd like to stay away from drilling the tank if at all possible. If a sump is kept underneath the tank inside the stand, will I need something to take moisture from the air to prevent mold?
