I'm in college, I got a 20 gallon tank, an aquaclear 70, a heater, some rocks, and put a little thing in it to keep the fish busy, went to the pet store and got mad fish, I got a Oscar, a Red Devil, 2 convicts, and 8 feeder fish. theyre all small right now, but i cant wait fro them to get mad big, you guys want some pictures or nahh?

yeah i cycled the tank, this isnt my frist tank, far from it, always been keeping fish, had red bellies in a 120g, oscars in a 90, and my dad always had a salt water tank, I know what im doing, honestly

OK, you are probably going to get flamed a little here, so I will try to ease that by being civil and maybe the rest of the community will follow suit.

First welcome to MFK

Second, the fish you purchased will out grow a 20 gallon tank in a very short time. Oscars and Red Devils get large rather quickly. Once they start growing the waste they produce will make the water quality very poor, even with aquaclear 70.

Third, as mentioned, did you cycle your tank? here is an article on cycling : http://www.firsttankguide.net/cycle.php, or do a google search for it. If you did not you will run into problems even faster, your water will get cloudy and your fish will die.

My suggestion would be to take the oscar and red devil back to the store, flush the feeders, and hope that the convicts survive the "new tank syndrome"

Good luck and remember to take good advice

you know what your doing?

and don't flush live fish...thats cruel

and dont get me started on the aggression.

this is another good point, if the convicts are male and female, and they pair up, they will kill the o and rd well before they grow large enough to eat the convicts
