hi i recently put my red devil in my 33 gallon since he was beating up my fish in my 180, well i just bought a 75 gallon which ill be getting some time next week.I really wanna add fish in with my red devil cause the aqurium looks empty, so any suggestions for tank mates, ill make them grow in my 33 until they get big enough. thanks

If he was terrorizing the 180, what makes you think that he won't do the same in an even smaller tank? Your best bet is a pleco. If that doesn't work, nothing else will.

Tough call. This will probably be trial and error for you. You'll probably need a cat that is aggressive enough to defend itself. OR maybe another devil of the opposite sex?

i agree with fish on fire. a pleco is your only hope of a tank mate. even then it's probably not too hopeful. try getting a pleco bigger than your RD and introducing the pleco to the tank first. once it is acclimated, then put your RD back in.

so no cichilds at ALL, if i do put what type are tough enough cause i no he didnt go after my jack demsey that much just ocasionaly fin nipping. and what kinda catfish cause he killed my other ones?

If you want a Cichlid that bad I'd say either a larger jack dempsey or a wolf cichlid (Dovii) would be your best bet. I had a tank of all sorts of cichlids die on me in one night and the dempseys were the only ones that survived.

If he found the cichlids in your 180g, he will find and kill ones in your 75g, and if u add larger cichlids, then imo your tank will be over stocked...i think a shoal of silver dollars, or tin foil barbs (once they grow to large add them to your 180g) or even LARGE danios if your on a budget and your RD is under 5"...hope this helps

Um . . . a lone wolf cichlid (assuming that it's male) in a 75 gallon alone is bad enough. To put him in with a rd would be even worse as one of those two fish would be dead in a night (assuming that they are both over the 5" mark).

I wouldn't add anything else in the 75g. A RD makes a great wet pet anyway.
