hi guys, i'm new here in the group. i am actually now setting up my new 1700 liter aquarium and am planning to populate it with the following....
2 pcs payara
2 pcs goliath tiger
2 pcs arapaima
2 pcs golden dorado
2 pcs motoro stingray
2 pcs snakehead
2 pcs wolf fish
all of these will be of similar sizes when introduced to the tank. is this variety combination okay?
would really appreciate your opinions and pieces of advice, thanks!

Not sure about the combination and how big will they be when you get them, and I'm guessing you know you will need a huge upgrade eventually.

Thats an interesting stock, but arapaima grow very quickly and I think they will prey on the payara if they stay small enough. I suggest that you get the payara a little larger. Other that I think it's going to be an awesome tank. Size matters, when you're going to put anything with arapaima.

Thanks, guys. All of them will actually be around 6 inches when i get them. Just concerned though they might end up eating each other, especially the payara and the goliath tiger.

One - That stock will not work since there are snakeheads, payara's, arapima's and wolf fish in the same tank.
Two - Those fish will get HUGE so you would need a 50000+ gallon tank/pond for them.
p.s why don't you just stick with the tiger fish, payara and ray.

You will have to watch them closely as they grow. Certain ones will outgrow and need to be moved out or they will be eaten by the larger guys. The snakehead and arapaima will grow much faster than the others. The dorado is mean in general. You will have to plan to move certain ones around in a couple of months if not sooner. You should get another tanks ready just in case certain ones starts picking on the weaker ones. Good Luck.

@rare exotic fish: great, so granting i reduce the number of species that i mix, these three that you are suggesting will not kill each other in time? ( im referring to the goliath tiger, payara, and motoro ray)

@twilight zone: noted, thanks. i guess i'll just go slow and start with a few varieties only. many told me there can only be one tiger in a mountain :)

I'd be worried they'd eat eachother for sure it may be hard to keep them all in the same tank esp the rays although if it's possible it would be awesome

That's a pretty impressive list you got all the popular monsters listed. As they get bigger you will find which fish don't get along. Wolf fish usually are kept by themselfs. Keeping two when small might be ok. But when they get bigger they will fight unless you just happen to get a mated pair then they might take over the whole tank. If the space is big enough they could all live together. What is the dimensions of the tank? If your serious about keeping all those fish you will need a bigger tank then 450g
