I've got a bunch of tanks ranging from 10-50 gallons but I recently took in my friend's year old Silver Arowana 'Queen'. Right now I'm raising a red tail catfish 'Whiz Kid' and he's still small (less than 3"). I was planning on waiting to setup a new tank ~150-250 gallons in a while when my red-tail got bigger but I wanna start right away for the Arowana's sake.

I have a nice room with a drain and a water supply with plenty of room. What suggestions would you give for setting up a bigger tank. Should I purchase a larger tank (if so, where?) or should I build my own?

Also, which other species of tropical fish can go well in a larger tank with the Arowana/Red-tail eventually because I have a bunch of space to start raising more fish from infants.

Eventually I plan to build a pond or massive tank but for now I wanna keep a fair budget so I don't have to get a job!

Suggestions for acquiring a larger tank and different types of freshwater fish I should research would be much appreciated! :screwy:

Get more for your money and build a big tank. How much space do you have, exactly?

The cat will out grow the upgrade in no time

Dont waste time with a small tank of 250 gallons for a RTC. Do it a favor and find someone with a large pond to house it or start the build of your large pond for it now.

id go with a 300 gallon just for those to fish alone but i guess you could squeeze them in a 240 but i wouldnt. but since your red tail is so young you dont have to worry about him for now. i would just worry about the aro. and good luck with the tank build or buy

a 600 gallon would be perfect for them, thats what im getting custom made acrylic.

wow thanks for the quick responses!
I'd imagine if I were to get a tank bigger than 300 gallons I would have to build it myself?
If I could purchase one where would you suggest I look?

Also, What steps are required to set up a pond. Roughly how much does it cost?
