So I bought a 93.5 gallon tank..(that's what the calculator said)..lol..I thought it was an 85 gallon it makes a difference in lbs..well anyways I got a tank I'm going to build a stand and tall canopy for a turtle tank....I want to build a low budget tank stand for the poor people like me...lol..I want to build it based on my 200 and my 55 gallon stand.. because the 90 gallon stand sucks..I will post picture of it..but any ways I noticed that the 55 and 90 gallon don't have a center. Brrace it held up by the4 2x4s(55g) or 2x6(90g) but nothing in the center the back I is open.. its held together by the top of the stand with the 2x4s. A bottom. And top fram right under the 2x4s with some 1x2s the the sides and front panels which are wood too..oh and the particle board inside flat...that's it..I've have that stand since 97 and still in great shape and sturdy..the 90 gallon tank stank is crap but seems to have the same way it was the 55 was built....now my 200 gallon stand looks the same with the upper and lower 2x1 frames inside but with. 8 2x6 and two xtra 2x4 o the topframe. Where the tank sits...I'm thinking the 2x1 in the tank stands are to. Hold up the sides and the front panels..but I can be wrong..well anyways this got long sorry...but soon to come..I will be building a stand with canopy for my turtle and some fish.. I don't want to overbuild the stand...so here goes me again building...just to let u know this will be my first attempt ...hopefully it come out good..

Well what I noticed that the stand has no 2x6 its more like 1x6 all the way around even the flat ones where the tank sits.. three in front three in back the front one is broken..surprise that stand was holding up that tank...
Well here's some pics maybe some saw these on my other thread..but started a new project for this one...hope u keep watching.

I have a question i dont want to use the drilled holes in the tank how can i fixe that??can i put a piece of glass through the inside???

No you do not block off the holes with glass, you buy bulkheads and plugs, glue the plugs into the bulkheads.

So I finally decide to do something to tank..after a lot of months..lol.....well I bought some fittings and wood to start tank project...I'm going to keep the holes for the tank I'm just moving them back may build like a rock waterfall thing forr turtle....so it covers pipe and serves as a basking area...had some practice from my 200 gallon tank..updates n lots of pictures to come..

So here's an update on the stand i m building a replica of my 55 gallon tank except will be adding a bigger canopy to fit for a light for a turtle and will be adding a turtle basking area with styrofoam and drylok...but that's later..for now here is the stand like I said its a repllica of my 55 but I added the two center braces..they are 2x2s instead of 1x2s ........well let me know what u think...

I needed to take my turtle out and gold fish....to leave my convicts alone in my 55 g..so this is his temp home... my son trew in some decorations...I wll be rodoing everything when I finish the stand but for now it will do..need to get a floating stand for him to bask on tomorrow I will get it...

So I went out to buy some heat lamps for basking..bought the dual ones with a infared light need to get the uvb light...I. spent like 60 bucks that was supposed to go to the wood..but the turtle needs it more than a fancy stand I guess..I would take my turtle out every other day to get some sun...but I'm getting busy at work and I come late..I decided I'm going with a wide canopy where I can fit my lights and the basking area.. I want to build like two rock or cliff overhangs in each corner one that has a small water fall.. with styrofaom and lots of drylok to handle the turtle scratches and the heat of the basking..well ill keep u guys updated....
