I have a 125 gallon tank currently housing around 20 assorted African Cichlids / Haps and 5 multicats. About a month ago my Electric Blue Johannis had a spawning event and I moved the holding female into a 10 gallon until she spit, and afterwards moved her back to the 125. I figured if other fish in the tank mated, I could just keep doing it this way. Now I have two additional females holding in the 125 and around 25 .5" fry still in the 10 gallon. Our area Petco is currently having their dollar per gallon sale. I've been considering getting another tank to house the holding fish and to also use as a fry grow out tank. Would I be better off getting a 55g or a 40 breeder? Any input from you guys would be appreciated.

40g breeder, it has a greater footprint. And you don't really need height for those fish

I would get a 40 breeder as well.

i like 40 gal breeder also, but i would buy a couple 20 longs instead. this way u can house mutliply types as well as sizes of fry. i have 240 full of africans. someone is always breeding. i have 4 20 longs set up so i can scoop and raise as needed
