I just set up my 120 and had a few question to ease my mind. The tank has been up and running for about 5 days. First question, My water is still hazy. The tank currently has no residents and the only thing that was added was some aqua safe dechlorinator when first filled. My substrate is pool filter sand and I also added a few large stones for the first phase of the aquascape. All the stones were treated before I added them to the tank. I washed the filter sand until the water was clear. My filtration is 2 AC 110'S and a Eheim 2260. Any ideas? Or am I just being a paranoid new tank owner? Any input and feed back would be great? Does that filtration sound O.K. for a 120? Last, but not least, what is the best water test kit? When the water clears I was thinking I'd get some Biospira and jumpstart the system. Thanks in advance.

How are you going to cycle it?

If you are going to use fish, drop in some crash test danios or something now and get it started. Do you have another established tank that you can swap some filter media over? That will speed up the cycling as well.

But I think you need to get the filters cycle started, the tank should settle down much quicker then.

Cheers

Everything that I've researched about Biospira say add the bacteria when you add the fish so that the bacteria has a source to start feeding on. As far as cycling goes I was going to let it run for a week or so and make sure all my temps and filters were dialed in then Add Biospira with fish. I'm still not 100% on what I'm going to stock it with. Therefore it's still empty. I'm not in a really big hurry, but was curious of others previous experience. Water clarity etc.

when i started my 120 gal i used sand also , it was cloudy for a while but it will clear up
get some gold fish to get the cycle started if you loose any its no biggie
