Hi,
I am going to be getting a 10ft x 3ft x 3ft tank.
I will move into it 2 oscars, 3 polypterus (senegal and delhezi), 2 synos, 8 talking cats, 1 mystus armatus straight away.
I hope to add the following when they have grown a bit : 5 clown loaches, 7 hoplo cats, 7 midnight catfish. What do you think?
Other fish I have which probably couldn't go in are : scissortails, danios, rasboras, orange tailed goodeids, bristlenoses, clown plecs, brochis, cories, african red eyed tetras(? possible??), platies, limias.
All the fish are spread over different tanks at the moment.

Also heating? on my 6ft I have an undertank heat mat and thermostat which has worked very well at maintaining the temperature. I plan 2 of these plus a heater in the sump tank.

Filtration - sump tank but I have never had one before so it is all new. Plus an fx5 fluval.

lighting ? no idea! But I will have a hood. Any suggestions?

Alison

I would say you would need a couple of powerful pumps in the sump for the return water, they will push a fair amount of water(depending on the Head, how far above the main tank is from the sump).I am doing a smaller tank than you at the moment 120x30x30 inches,i will have 2 pumps running from my sump into the main tank(flexible hose),i'm going to connect some elbows to the end of the hose(hose will be fed through the back brace) so i can control the flow direction(this is all my theory),it's still work in progress and very trial and error........Doh

Hi,
I already have the fluval running on another tank and will be moving it with the fish.
I really need to read up on sumps. All I know is the guys provide a sump tank and drill the main one.
So with 2 will you have one outlet at each end?
Because I have a lot of catfish I will have a lot of decor and want to maintain movement through that. Do you think pumps from the sump will be enough?
