Hi,

Current Filtration - I believe the filtration should suffice but am open to suggestion
1. TopFin 60 (standard for a 55G tank) - may change it, as it is getting a little noisier
2. Marineland Emperor 400 (good for a 90G tank)

Planned Tank Mates -
1. Six Angels
2. ~ 4 clown loaches
3. 1 Pleco
4. ~Six neon tetras

What size tank are you planing on setting up? If anything i would use the Marineland Emperor filter if your setting up 55 gallon or bigger tank.

if its a 75 or smaller you should be ok:)

Hi,

My original post was incomplete as I had erroneously posted it while typing and then while fixing exceeded the 30 mins time allotted and cancelled the entire post. So here are the details -

After a stint with Pacus/ Oscars and other larger fish, we are starting off an entire re-designed tank. Want to do it right the first time so seeking your support and feedback.

Tank - 55G

Planned setup -
1. Ultra white sand - 40 pounds
2. Two large beautiful driftwoods
3. Stones - ~8 stones of different sizes; not too large though
4. Plants - ~8 - 10 plants; not sure which ones yet
5. Lightning - Currently have stock white lights, but planning to install T5 day and night lights

Planned Tank Mates -
1. Six Angels
2. ~ 4 or 6 clown loaches
3. 1 Pleco
4. ~Six neon tetras

Current Filtration - I believe the filtration should suffice but am open to suggestion
1. TopFin 60 (standard for a 55G tank) - may change it, as it is getting a little noisier
2. Marineland Emperor 400 (good for a 90G tank)

Your Thoughts?

Options -
1. Sand or Substrate?
2. Plants - which ones and a good option to get it online; not the LFS.

Thanks all.

Fai

Hoping to get this going by Christmas.

Why not LFS for Plants?

Sand looks cool, but it can mess up your filter motor and it sucks to vacuum (No pon intended). I like good old fashioned gravel. But If you want to go with sand, get a larger grain.. it will save you a headache when setting up and cleaning.

Here's a 55 I did the other day in about 15 min.

It all depends on how much time and effort you want to put in with live plants...
