Hey I had a few questions about my new tank setup. My new 225 gallon acrylic tank should be here in about two weeks and I'm making my final preparations for its arrival. A little backround info is that I currently have a painted turtle that I found when he was just a few days old. I have him in a 10 gallon tank currently and he has grown very quickly in the last 4 months. I would say he's about 2 1/2 inches now and steadily growing. I can't wait to see him in his new tank but I need to figure out a few things first. I decided to go with an eheim pro 3 thermo filter and my first question is what is the best media to use for this setup (turtles can be quite messy). My next question is what's the best type of gravel/substrate to use(I'm going to try for the natural look). Lastly, I was wondering what other types of fish has anyone successfully kept with a painted turtle. I currently have a little bull shark in with him right now and they actually get a long really well. I'm sure that with a 225 gallon tank and if I give them enough hiding places, some fish could coexist with my turtle. Also the fact that I'm going to eventually keep fish as well might affect the media and gravel choices that I have to make. Any advise or help is appreciated and I look forward to posting pictures in a couple of weeks.
