After the loss of my het, my tank looks very empty. The Pearsei is huge but in an 8ft tank it does still look empty. So looking for ideas of something to add. No more bottom fish, so no cats or more polys. Mid to upper swimming fish. Maybe even schooling fish of some sort.

I know a few like Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 have kept Polys and Dats together ,and Ive used the search on MFK to see that this is a pretty successful combo but of course still have questions...

So where to start? I guess the first thing is what type of Dat to have with my polys? Tank is 300 gallon but tall as opposed to wide. So 24" wide but 30" tall.

Diet? Pretty much same as the polys? Meaty foods?

Other tankmates? How would my big pushover of a pearsei do with one?

Any other ideas? And for that matter where to find larger fish ... At this point probably need to start with fish about 7" or so.

B BichirKing , Thanks for the local spots. Ive never been to the Olympia place yet, will have to check it out. I forgot about Aquarium Paradise in Lakewood. They get a lot of big fish brought in... Mostly Oscars with hole in the head but on occasion some other stuff.

I will probably wait till later this spring and drive down for a weekend in Portland and check out Wet Spot again in person. Would rather see larger fish before purchase.

Most datnoids will work with polys. Keep in mind silver dats need some brackish water even though they are placed in freshwater. A NTT would be a good fish to start with. Will be fine in ur tank. Seen some 16in but not much anymore. Kurt, Polyaddict86 Polyaddict86 , has one and are doing well with his growouts. Will take most prepared foods once settled in. I would message monster aquarium and they just got some imports in and they tend to get larger fish.

Always gotta tag the K krichardson when it comes to dats.

Did I hear it right? Did DMD123 DMD123 Say Datnoids?!?!? :jaw-dropp . HeHe..... It’s really going to depend on what your Pearsei is gonna allow as a tankmate. :FIREdevil Therefore, any one shown below will work if large enough from the start in the 300.

Thanks kno4te kno4te will look into NNT. Vancouver_98683 Vancouver_98683 , sadly each of those dats pictured ended up on the dinner tables of the fisherman.

I think my Pearsei should be okay with it. She is calm and has a easy going attitude.
