I have plans To get a new 6' x 24" x 24". I haven't really figured out what I want to stock it with, but was thinking maybe going with a Trimac, Jag, or possibly a pair of JDs (maybe EBJD). In addition to those I was thinking of keeping a group of male convicts of various color morphs.

My question is how well do male convicts play together when there are no females around. I haven't seen much info about a similar setup, and what their aggression levels would be in this scenario.

I think a male Convict can go in just about any tank, with any tank mates. They're awesome, they're entertaining, they can take a beating from bigger fish, and give a beating, too. I'm about to put a pair of Convicts in a 540 Gallon with a Jag (6 inches), a Trimac (small 4 inch), and some 10-12 Vieja. I know they're common, it's the first cichlid everybody gets, everybody's had one--but Convicts just rule.

So does that mean keeping multiple male convicts together will not cause any over the top aggression issues?

This, i miss the con I gave back to the LFS recently; he was beating up all my juvies though

No it would be either Jag or Trimac or pair of EBJD. Not all of those together. But I would like to have Convicts mixed in as well with whichever "show Piece" I choose.

I'd like to have about 5 or 6 male convicts (a mix of standard black stripe, marbled and pink). I just haven't been able to find out how a group of male convicts would handle this. Everything I see is about a pair of Convicts and I've been there done that. There is so much information on keeping a male female combination, but pretty much no first hand experience with a group of males. I'd love to hear from anyone that has tried this.

Convict is not a best choice to mix in in any display or "Show Piece" because it's easy taking over the territory from your main focus fish. I got a 6 inches Jag and a 3.5 inches female convict and she beat up the Jag really bad, I have to remove that convict to save my jag life.

That is surprising to me...how big is the tank?

There is no way to predict if single, or multiple, convicts will work out in your tank. I've seen Convicts with Angelfish, but Yuki's seen a convict abuse a Jag. No way to know, just try it. Convicts are cheap and plentiful. And they usually look awesome, too.
