hey y’all. So In a few weeks I’ll receive my 350g (330 technically) that will be my Gars new home. Because of some leaky tanks they are currently in a 75g grow tank (ranging one 8” one 9” and one 11-12” but all currently hitting a little growth spirt ).

My question is, when I receive the tank, would you separately cycle it? Or try to swap water with fish.

More info is that I’ll have 4, fx6’s on the new tank. Two of which are currently on this little tank to seed one and the other was just on there already.

I was thinking of buying a large Rubbermaid to transfer 50% waterhanges into and drop an air stone in there while it builds up to about 150 gal, then do a full drain on the 75 with that 150 added to the new tank and put the two seeded fx6’s on as well. (4total)

So I guess the questions are;

How long will that Rubbermaid water stay “beneficial water”?

Overall, does that sound like a good plan?

And/or- should I just seperately cycle that tank with the two new filters plus one of the seeded filters as well?

Thanks

Thanks y’all. My Cuban is pretty sensitive so just want to make things as smooth as possible. I’m sure some can relate to overthinking on these things.

patience always pays off in my experience...ive slid tanks across the room half full before that crashed immediatly after. Sounds like ur in no detrimental situation in my eyes with the gar in a 75 for now. Whats 2-3 more weeks to cycle a new tank? Id throw one of the new filters on the 75, one old/un cleaned on the new tank and that should get it going quick.

What I would do:
Run the new tanks with new water for few days/weeks, with new filters
Move some water from old tank to new tank, run for few days
Move the old filters along with media (while moving the fish)
add Seachem Stability
Test water parameters daily
Do daily/alternate day water change for first few days/week
