So one of my customers offered me up his old salt tank and well when he told me the price i couldnt pass it down. the size is 4'L x 15"D x 18"T.
it also has some scratches on the inside on the front glass and i need to some how reduce them and or get rid of them. ive heard of people buffing them out but i dont quiet know what to use or how to do it. i just need to clean it up and well find a place to put it without my gf *****en at me...lol... she wants the tank too, kinda. any help would be great thanks.

nice 55.. if its a glass tank buffing/polishing is pretty easy (mentaly) but takes a bit of work.. do some searching in the diy section theres a bunch of good threads on how to do it well
if its acrylic... im pretty sure it can also be polished but its a lot easyer to mess up

Is that an old school Tru-Vu??????Definate acrylic....Go to Home Depot....Purchase he acrylic buffing kits....Works perfectly.......

yeah it is, so home depot has a acrylic buffing kit huh????? is it pretty self explanitory and i should prob clean it first right? and well my other question is, should i fill the bottom filter with live rock and then just put an interal sponge filter in there or should i have it set up the same way he did, but he said he had problems with fish dien. thanks

Ah Home depot good idea. I was going to recommend an automotive store for plastic polish. Some pet stores offer a comlete kit as well. Just kinda expensive to buy.

Keep us posted on how it turns out. I too have an acyrlic tank and have a few scratches that could use some attention.

Congrats on the great buy!

I would get in contact with Tap Plastics and talk to them about polishing acrylic/plexiglass. They are great and can't think of anyone more knowledgeable. Here's the website and search for one in your area:

Good luck!
