i am going from a 75g to a 125g but i cant fit them both in my house at the sametime can i take the water from the 75g and put it in the 125g and add more water over the next few week cause i do have 6 weeks to cycle the tank or what is the best way to do this??

I was in a similar situation like you, but my tank first tank was smaller than yours. I had a 55g tank and bought a 125g tank my discus fishes about 1 month ago. I transferred abt. 90% volume of the water from my established 55g to 125g tank, plus all decor, filters, filled up the tank, and transferred all fishes into there new home last. They were little stressed for a couple of days, maybe due to new environment or so. But other than that, I think, everyone is happy and healthy with their new and bigger home now.

If you transfer all the water and filter at the same time wont it be just like doing a really big water change? I think youd be ok, you also don't have to fill up the new one to the top right away, fill it up over a couple of days, at first just enough for the filtration to work.

since it's a new tank, you must wait the 24-48 hour period no matter what, but after that...it's just like what roombo said, it is like a big water change.
