Hi,
Getting a new 180 gallon.

Can I keep a small silver aro (3-4 inches) in that with my discus for at least 2-3 years?

Could I keep a small motoro or hystrix ray in their for a few years?

Any plecos that will eat algae I could through in too?

Thanks for the help and sorry for all of my questions!

as far as the plecos bushynose plecos are the only ones i would recommend for algea eating in a discus tank

Cool. I like them.

What about the other fish?

i know people keep the other fish with discus i just have never kept them so i dont know what size tank they need and how fast they grow

ok. thanks any way.

I dont see you having a problem with the aro and discus depending on the size of the discus of course.

:nilly::):DCool. I bought the little aro and he's going to stay at the petstore tonight while i make final preparations for him tonight.

I hope you realize that if cared for properly that Aro will outgrow that 180 in a year. They explode to 24''. 4ft takes forever but the first 2 come almost overnight lol. And a 2ft aro looks sad in a 180. The biggest one I work with is 30+ and is housed in a tank 10x4x4 and even he's starting to look cramped lol.

I would avoid housing him with discus due to the huge sporadic waste load. Bruisers go in bruiser tanks. Discus need to be the focus in a discus tank.

Just keep in mind in a matter of months your gonna have discus in an aro tank and not an aro in a discus tank.

Very true. I forgot to add "for a very limited amount of time" when I said it shouldnt be a problem.
