I am getting a new tank and I was wondering if there was a difference between glass and acrylic tanks. Also I was wondering what’s the best type of filter to get. (I heard it was wet/dry)

Usually price is the big difference. What size tank are you thinking of?Acrylic tanks tend to be lighter and scratch easier.Glass is heavier but less prone to scratching also acrylic tanks nee to be fully supported onthe bottom glass tanks just need perimeter support-Anne

Haha, interesting question. Acrylic tanks are lighter and sometimes clearer, but easier to scratch. Glass tanks are heavier, but they are more durable. As far as filters, its all about budget and personal preference. I like canister and HOB's, but only because I can't afford/have the time for w/d. Its all about what YOU like.

I do agree, its all about what you like, but I do think you should get glass, acrylic is so easy to scratch. about the filters its all up to you. really for crystal clear water you need to have your water turned over 10-12 times an hour, now of course this also depends on how many fish you have in your tank. just as an example (do whatever you want) I have a 100 gallon with 2 senegal bichirs, two ropefish and three leopard bushfish. I have two cascade 1500 canister filters, and one HOB emperor 400 and the water is crystal clear all the time, thats like a 1000 gallons an hour filtration so, the tank is filtered 10 times per hour, hope this helps ya
