finally got it in, relatively cleaned, and filled. Going to stain the stand walnut, and I think I'm going to put a black back round in to hide the equipment.
Ctenopoma seems very happy, being his normal jerky self 2 second after getting in the tank. My tiretrack, however, jumped out and gave me a heart attack (I thought the tank had sprung a leak) last night, he did it twice which made me think that the vinager that I had used to try to get off the hard water stains might have caused the ph to go down too much for him, but I did a midnight test and all was well. I'm thinking that because he's become very found a the floating pvc pipe, which I had not transfered to the new tank, he was freaking out trying to find it, because once I put it in the tank, we talked for a bit :) and I gave him some midnight snacks he calmed down and has since checked out the tank, and has been back to his normal self. Picking up an 18" plus slimy spiney eel is not so easy , especially when you just been woken up from a deep sleep.

Nice, what size tank is that and what other tank mates ??

hope your eel is ok now

thanks guys, the tank is a 160g. My bedroom is actually meant to be the dinning room in my apartment, thats why I have the dressing screen there, my bed won't fit in the bedroom here anyway :) . In there right now is a tire track, a leopard ctenopoma, and a common pleco. I'm going to get some bichers (two) and a black ghost knife to add to the tank, and I'll cross my fingers that they guys in there will let them live with them now that there is a little more room, past couple of new tankmates have been in more than peice when I woke up in the morning.

Get rid of that pleco before you put any bichirs/polys in there. Trust me it's not a good idea, the pleco will suck the slime coat off of them. Good luck and looks nice! That crack in the corner makes me cringe, be careful with that.

did you had to put anything to support the weight? the last post you did, i got sick and tired of reading all the people arguing stupid sh*t on how they always right about supporting the house on 160g, so i guess i can hear the conclusion from you, and the tank looks awesome, are you planning to put on any back grounds?

Thanks, I was very very attempted to do a dyi 3-d backround, but my impatience to get the guys into there upgraded tank won out. I did ask my landy lady about the supporting walls and it turns out that where wanted to place the tank just happened to be on a supporting wall, so bonus. Its too bad that the 3-d backrounds already made are so expensive,.... maybe I'll work on it and see what I achive, I would really like to set up some cave in tunnels into a rock type back round. Aafter getting this looking accepatable (staining the stand and blacking out the back) I'm going to work on my 72g which is now empty and do one of those riparium tanks that hypophyte posted, I'm very excited about this project, and am hoping to achieve even 30% of the results of his beautiful tanks.
I'm certain that my eel will be fine he was already making me laugh at taking a piece of zuchini I put in for my pleco and spitting it out (anything that I put in the tank should be for him in his mind). My pleco does have a taste for slime coat I'm lucky that everyone who's been in the tank has not allowed him to taste away, but your right I have to be careful my last ornate couldn't stand his ground in the tank, I will make sure to keep a close eye on the new comers.
